Blairgowrie & Rattray Development Trust Ltd

Blairgowrie & Rattray Development Trust Ltd was established in 2018 as an amalgamation of The Ericht Trust and One Voice Volunteer Group Association. It was formed in recognition of a growing need for a central point of contact serving as ‘one voice for our town.’

Two-way flow of communication with its members is of paramount importance to the Trust Board. Trustees welcome a constant flow of ideas and recognise the critical importance of community, member and volunteer support.

The Trust is a member of Development Trusts Association Scotland (DTAS) This national organisation uses its expertise to inform, support and represent a wide network of development trusts, facilitating the sharing of knowledge, expertise, encouraging mutualism and co-operation.

Trustees, volunteers and staff work together to support a growing number of projects and to offer a range of services and supports to local community groups and organisations.

In 2017, members of the Ericht Trust, One Voice Volunteer Group, Blairgowrie & Rattray Community Council and Blairgowrie & Rattray Business Association came together to create this Plan following wide community consultation.

The CAP reflects the views of the people and groups in our town about local issues that matter most, and particularly those things we can all work on to improve our lives and neighbourhoods. This Plan has wide ownership with many groups involved in its implementation. You will find it here Community Action Plan or request a copy from the office.

The Trust is an ‘anchor organisation’ - a term applied to an independent community-led group which takes on a number of improvement and development roles. In our town, the Trust is involved in:

  • Supporting community regeneration – working alongside and helping to unite groups with common purposes e.g. progressing the many projects in the Community Action Plan
  • Helping community groups with funding applications, managing projects and planning developments
  • Supporting and promoting volunteering
  • Helping local people to get involved and have a say, strengthening the collective voice and liaising with decision making bodies
  • Providing a focal point for shared interests and concerns e.g. encouraging visitors to the town
  • Fostering connections, collaborative working, exchange of ideas and news between community groups, businesses and public services through the Forum and other public events (can we have a link here to the Discover Blair Forum page)
  • Improving wider partnership working through active links with Perth and Kinross Council, the Community Planning Partnership and Trusts in neighbouring areas
