Alan Comrie
A resident of the town, Alan was born here and educated at Hill Primary and Blairgowrie High Schools. He started his working career in the Perth Royal Infirmary laboratories in 1978 as a Biomedical Scientist and trained there for two and a half years, spending time in the different specialities.
After realising that Blood Transfusion was the area he wished to specialise in, he moved to Ninewells Hospital in 1981 to the Blood Transfusion Centre Laboratory. Alan spent thirty seven and a half rewarding years working there, seeing great changes in techniques and the regulation of laboratories. His final post was as the head of the Genetics Laboratory and Stem Cell banking. He has a lifelong passion for anything with an engine particularly classic cars and motorcycles. Allan enjoys fishing, golf, the outdoors, travel and having holidays in the motorhome. He has two cats and a black lab who keeps him fit walking around our excellent local network of paths. Alan is looking forward to supporting the Trust with many of the town improvement challenges as well as a specific focus on its Membership. |
