An integral part of the Trust, our popular Booklore shop is run entirely by a team of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers. Open since 2011, this community bookshop is an Aladdin’s cave of second-hand books, both fact and fiction. There's something for everyone – and our volunteers are always on hand to help you out.
But Booklore is more than a bookshop. We are building and gathering local knowledge to develop our role as an Information Centre since joining the Visit Scotland iKnow Partner Programme. The team are ready and willing to provide a wealth of information about the local area both to residents and visitors from further afield.
Within Booklore, you will also find examples of work by some of our talented local artists and creatives – and these are for sale too.
Our volunteers like nothing more than to chat about all things “Books and Blairgowrie”. The shop is dog friendly too, so your pooch will also be given a warm welcome. Pop in and lose yourself in this little oasis of calm just off the main Blairgowrie High Street. You never know what unique or long-sought after book you might leave with.
Any surplus income received from the bookshop is set aside to fund community projects in the town.
Would you like to volunteer with us?
If you think you'd like to volunteer in the bookshop for a couple of hours a week, please, get in touch. It's good fun, and full training and support will be given. Email admin@brdt.org.uk for more information.
