Wendy Mackey
Wendy and her husband retired to Blairgowrie in 2011 to be near their children and grandchildren.  They already had a love for the town from visiting their son’s farm at Lornty.  From a farming background near Londonderry in Northern Ireland, Wendy and her husband bred pedigree Beef Shorthorn cattle.  After retiring, she was inspired to start painting farm animals, horses, pets and the local wildlife.
In 2018 Wendy had the idea to showcase the work of local artists in underused business and office windows in the Leslie Street area, during Perthshire Open Studios week. This event was also designed to help those artists whose studios are located in less accessible rural areas. Thus, the Leslie Street Art trail came into being.  In 2019 the event doubled in size with Blairgowrie High School students fully on board with their excellent work. Wendy also enjoys volunteering at Booklore, the One Voice bookshop, is involved in the Our Heritage steering group, and delivers Hub magazines. She is very keen to promote the local artistic talent, enhance the town through art,  and build on the Leslie Street Art trail event.
